Occhipinti SP68 Bianco 2024 . Another Showstopper from Sicily

This bottle is something else… I can simply describe it as a phenomenal experience from the very first pour.

SP68 Bianco by Arianna Occhipinti is the kind of wine that feels effortless yet profound. The nose hits you first: delicate, floral, almost like walking through Sicilian hills at the start of spring. You can smell wildflowers, citrus peel, and white stone, all carried by this airy, graceful energy that makes you slow down and take it in.

On the palate, it’s fruity but not sweet, with that signature Occhipinti touch; subtle, pure, and deeply expressive. There’s a hint of lychee, lemon blossom, and almond skin, wrapped in a silky texture that feels both natural and noble. Every sip reveals more nuance — light and precise, but never hollow.

It’s not a wine that shouts. It glows.

Even though this style isn’t totally my type, a little too delicate for my usual palate, I have to admit: it’s brilliantly made. A wine of harmony, honesty, and restraint. 9/10, easily.

Arianna Occhipinti is one of the defining voices of modern Sicilian wine. Working from her family’s vineyards near Vittoria, she’s known for crafting wines that capture the raw beauty of the island’s land; wild herbs, salt air, sun, and stone.

The SP68 Bianco is a blend of Albanello and Zibibbo, two native Sicilian grapes that complement each other perfectly. Albanello brings structure and minerality; Zibibbo (a type of Muscat) adds perfume, fruit, and that subtle tropical lift. Together, they create a wine that feels alive, balanced, and quietly emotional.

This is a bottle that reminds you how graceful natural wine can be: gentle, fragrant, and deeply tied to its place.
